Campaña: ECOMARG 2017

The overall purpose in the planned ESMAREC 0514 survey is the study of the structure and dynamics of complex deep ecosystems systems of the Le Danois (El Cachucho) bank and Avilés canyon system. In this sense include activities to: • Estimation of the spatial distribution of hard bottom habitats and environmental features, with special priority by the classified 1170-reefs EU Habitat directive. • Estimating the abundance and spatial distribution of epibenthic communities on rocky habitats and cold water coral reefs. • Aim of the methodology to monitor the conservation status of vulnerable habitats and their biological communities through the application of photogrammetric techniques in fixed sampling stations. • Sedimentary characterization of the soft bottom habitats of the AMP El Cachucho.
